‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part’ Teaser Trailer

“You are capable of amazing things. Because you are the Special. And so am I. And so is everyone. The prophecy is made up, but it’s also true. It’s about all of us. Right now, it’s about you. And you… still… can change everything.” – Emmet, The Lego Movie

The sequel to madcap comedy and inspirational life-coach The Lego Movie is almost fully assembled and ready for primetime. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the eccentric citizens of Bricksburg as they attempt to save their city from LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space. The sequel takes place five years after the original film, and appears have fun lampooning Mad Max in its depiction of a dystopian wasteland that our heroes are inhabiting.

Emmet (Chris Pratt) returns as the plucky hero who is convinced that Everything is Awesome. He will be trying to prevent the nefarious LEGO DUPLO® invaders, led by Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Haddish), from wrecking LEGO civilization faster than it can be rebuilt. It appears that the crux of the conflict will involve Emmet trying to rescue several of his friends after they are abducted by the invaders. Lucy (aka Wyldstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks), LEGO Batman (Will Arnett), Superman (Channing Tatum), Metal Beard (Nick Offerman), and Unikitty (Alison Brie) are among the characters who will aide (and possibly sabotage) the journey to restore harmony to the LEGO universe

The story for the sequel looks to be a clever riff on the first film, which resulted from the imagination of a young boy named Finn, who was playing with his LEGO blocks (with his dad) and concocting an elaborate story as he played. The sequel seems to be told from the perspective of Finn’s younger sister (hence the DUPLO® blocks), and includes a galaxy where everything is portrayed as a musical. According to Warner Bros, this new journey will test the courage, creativity and Master Building skills of new and existing heroes, all while revealing just how special they really are.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Ever After, Trolls, Sky High). It is produced by the team from the first movie, including Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Roy Lee. Miller, Lord, and Matt Fogel handled the screenplay, while Raphael Bob-Waksberg rewrote the final draft.

Christopher Aanerud: I graduated from the University of Georgia with an English degree. I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, singing badly to pop songs in the car, eating delicious food, and drinking fine alcoholic beverages. I play basketball when my crippling knee and back pain allows, and I try to hit the gym on a regular basis. I have a son and a sugar glider, and when I'm not combing the internet for breaking news I am likely traveling or riding my Razor scooter.
