Juno Temple, Joey King And James McAvoy Set For Sci-Fi Comedy ‘Almost You’ Directed By Matt Lipsey

Juno Temple (Ted Lasso, Fargo), Joey King (We Were the Lucky Ones, The Act), and James McAvoy (Atonement, Speak No Evil) are set to star in Almost You, a timely sci-fi artificial intelligence comedy feature directed by Matt Lipsey (Ted Lasso, Inside No. 9).

Principal photography is underway on location in Glasgow, Scotland. Bankside Films has boarded the title for worldwide sales, co-representing domestic and UK distribution rights alongside UTA Independent Film Group.

The narrative follows Phoebe (Temple), a brilliant robotics engineer grappling with grief following the sudden death of her younger sister, Edie (King). Defying corporate safety protocols at her tech firm, Phoebe synthesizes years of archived text messages, home videos, and social media footprints to construct a lifelike, sentient AI replica of Edie. While the creation initially offers emotional solace and companionship, the digital resurrection rapidly spirals into unintended ethical and psychological complications, forcing Phoebe to confront the boundary between remembrance and artificial replication. McAvoy co-stars in a key supporting role.

“We thought we were making a film about the future. It turns out it’s about right now,” Lipsey said in a statement. “Juno, Joey, and James will make you laugh, then break your heart, then make you laugh about it.”

Danny Page (California Schemin’, Faith) produces for Homefront Productions and Blazing Griffin alongside Matt Schichter (Mother Father Sister Brother Frank) of Scared Goose Entertainment and Rory Stewart. The production is staged in association with McAvoy and Lisa Liberati’s Parker Films banner, with production financing provided by Blazing Griffin, Homefront Productions, Yeti Entertainment, and Head Gear Films.

The project marks an active fall for the core cast. Temple continues her television run following her Emmy-nominated turns in Fargo and Ted Lasso, King recently appeared in Warner Bros.’ Practical Magic 2, and McAvoy recently saw his directorial debut California Schemin’ land its domestic theatrical rollout.
