First ‘Aquaman’ Trailer Drops at Comic-Con

It’s finally here! After appearing for the first time in the lackluster Justice League, Jason Momoa is getting his own spotlight in the first dropped trailer for Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, the footage looks a lot less typical doom and gloom of the DC Universe and something a lot more along the lines of Marvel’s Black Panther with an exciting newly created world for audiences.

The film follows the origin story of “half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.” Along the way, he will have to come face to face with his brother (Patrick Wilson), whose intents are nothing short of malevolent.

The film also stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren.

In addition to the first trailer, Comic-Con also debuted two exclusive clips to Hall H: one involving Aquaman and Mera (Heard) in the desert visiting an ancient temple and the other a giant fight and chase scene with the villain Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21. Experience the excitement below.
