How exciting! Comic-Con has always been known for its surprising revelations by way of entertainment news and this year, the thrilling trailers just keep coming. Perhaps one of the most electrifying trailers for fans was that of the famed Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts sequel, The Crimes of Grindelwald. Although there are many anticipated blockbusters such as Aquaman, Glass, and Godzilla, Fantastic Beasts has a lifetime of followers starting back in 1997 with the release of the very first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone.
With 30+ years in the making, Potter fans will finally get to see the epic story unfold that began with the relationship between famed Hogwarts Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and the notorious dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). In the trailer, both Dumbledore and Grindelwald are younger and have very different capacities than audiences remember. Grindelwald begins with a stint, albeit a short one, in prison while Dumbledore is the Professor of the Dark Arts class.
Setting these powerful wizards aside, audiences cannot forget the unforgettable cast of the first Fantastic Beasts movie returning to reprise their roles. Eddie Redmayne, who portrays Newt Scamander, is the center of the events that are unfolding, which are not good. It seems that Grindelwald is planning something very big and very bad with a horde of wizard followers enough to start a war. Newt is told by Dumbledore that he is the only one who can stop the dark wizard. With the help of his companions, Tina, Jacob and Queenie along with a few others, it appears that the clan is gearing up for a fight.
Moreover, as exciting as the narrative and familiar faces are, fans want to see all of the adorable and creatively unique creatures that Fantastic Beasts is known for. The trailer certainly delivers with the reveal of some recognizable cuties like the money stealing Niffler and some new creatures such as the cat-like monsters that lurk next to their presumed master or the roaring pinkish-furred, fanged thing.
