Warner Brother Studios just made huge announcement earlier today. On their official Youtube channel the studio posted a trailer announcing that the studio will be releasing all of their major 2021 movies on HBO Max on the same day as their theatrical opening, starting on December 25, 2020 with Wonder Woman 1984.
The movies that will be released also include the new Suicide Squad movie (August 6), the remake of Dune (October 1), the movie adaptation of the musical In the Heights (June 18), Judas and the Black Messiah (TBD), Tom & Jerry (March 5), Godzilla vs. Kong (May 21), The Many Saints of Newark (March 12), The Conjuring: the Devil Made Me Do It (June 4), Malignant (TBD), Those Who Wish Me Dead (TBD), King Richard (November 19), Space Jam 2: New Legacy (July 16), The Little Things (January 29), Mortal Kombat (January 15), The Matrix 4 (December 22).
The trailer also claims that viewing these movies will come at no extra cost to people currently subscribed to HBO Max. Like American Thanksgiving, the Christmas holiday season is also usually a major release time for movies. Apparently after all the suffering of 2020, Warner Brothers has decided to go all out for 2021.
Of course in the left corner of the trailer the phrase, “Films and Release Dates Subject to Change” can be seen, so it is possible that not all of these movies are going to release according to their current schedule and may be adjusted over the coming months.
