New Adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ With Carey Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya is Coming to U.S. Theaters

One of Charles Dickens’ most famous novels, A Christmas Carol, has another adaptation from CineLife Entertainment. Cine Life Entertainment is overseeing the U.S. release. The film has a British voice cast that stars Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Martin Freeman (Fargo), Simon Russell Beale (The Death of Stalin), and Andy Serkis (The Batman). The film was released in the U.K. in mid-November.

More than 200 U.S. locations have been scheduled for the release and will premiere on December 4 through to January.

This new retelling of the classic Christmas story follows the Victorian family as they plan for a toy theater of A Christmas Carol annual production. There will be real dance performances and stylized sets with a narrator. This version is guided by former Royal Ballet soloist and BalletBoyz founder Michael Nunn as Scrooge, with Jakub Franasowicz, Russell Maliphant, Karl Fagerlund Brekke, Mikey Boats, Grace Jabbari, and Dana Fouras.

Co-directors Jacqui Morris and David Morris told Variety, “We’re thrilled to be working with CineLife Entertainment again as they are passionate about independent film, and their state-of-the-art Spotlight Cinema network theatres are the perfect environment for what could be the first family film outing of the festive season. Dickens’ simple and moving tale of redemption and the power of giving will particularly resonate this year. Families have bonded and are staying closely-knit during the pandemic, and this is a beautiful, immersive film for families to get lost in.”

Bernadette McCabe, executive vice-president of CineLife Entertainment, added,” ‘A Christmas Carol’ truly captures the magic of the holiday season. This new re-imagination of the classic favorite is sure to capture the interest of our audiences across the country, creating new traditions and festive outings with loved ones.”
