Warner Bros. Brings LEGOs to Life

Released today was the first teaser for the new The LEGO Movie, being put together by Warner Bros. and tag team Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street). Set to release on February 7th, of next year, the movie focuses on the life of an everyday LEGO man, Emmett (Chris Pratt), who gets confused for the prophet-like MasterBuilder, and is forced to stop the malicious President Business (Will Ferrell), who wants to glue the entire universe to itself (Just to clarify, other MasterBuilders include Superman, Superwoman, and the 2002 NBA All-Stars.

The trailer pokes fun at the recent superhero movie fad with a heroic intro and appearances from almost the entire Justice League. In fact, although it’s still highly unlikely, The LEGO Movie might be the best chance for fanboy dreams to come true – Marvel and DC characters on-screen together (LEGO has toy rights to both properties).

Along with Pratt and Ferrell, the movie’s cast also features Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Liam Neeson (Taken), and Morgan Freeman (Now You See Me).

By the looks of the trailer, the movie is targeting young and old LEGOphiles alike, with a gorgeous visual style that’s reminiscent of stop motion animation and plenty of the trademark humor from other LEGO productions. Be on the look-out, and watch the trailer below for a glimpse of what’s to come in 2014.
