Steven Soderbergh has found his next project in the feature film KIMI, starring Zoe Kravitz in the lead role for New Line. KIMI will premiere exclusively on HBO Max after signing a three-year overall deal with HBO and HBO Max.
The script written by David Koepp (The Mummy, Angels & Demons) follows an agoraphobic (fear of being trapped in a place or situation) tech worker, who discovers recorded evidence of a violent crime during a routine data stream analysis and attempts to report the chain of command to her company. Measured by opposition and bureaucracy, she knows that in order to get involved, she’s going to have to do what she’s most scared of… leaving her apartment.
Together the streaming service and Soderbergh will release the crime thriller No Sudden Move starring Don Cheadle (House of Lies), David Harbour (Stranger Things), and Ray Liotta (Marriage Story) later this year. In December, Soderbergh’s comedy-drama Let Them All Talk starring Meryl Streep, Dianne Wiest (I Care a Lot), and Candice Bergen (Book Club) was released.
Kravitz has been hard at work since she secured the prized role of Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson as Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. She also starred on HBO’s Big Little Lies and Hulu’s High Fidelity, but the TV series was canceled after the first season.
