Ahead of its fall production start, the Snoop Dogg biopic, currently titled simply Snoop, has begun rounding out its cast. These additions include Laya DeLeon Hayes as Shante Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s wife; Olly Sholotan as rapper Kurupt; Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg’s cousin; and Jonica Booth as The Lady of Rage. These additions join a cast consisting of Jonathan Daviss as Calvin Broadus Jr (AKA Snoop Dogg himself); Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre; Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur; Algee Smith as Warren G; and Lauren London as Snoop’s mother, Beverly Tate.
Craig Brewer, director of Hustle and Flow, Dolemite Is My Name, and most recently Song Sung Blue, will direct Snoop. Brewer also rewrote the script from a previous draft written by Robert Cole. Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum are producing the film through Imagine Entertainment, alongside Snoop Dogg himself and Sara Ramaker through Death Row Pictures. The film will be the first production under a recent collaboration between Death Row Pictures and Universal Pictures, and it will feature music from throughout Snoop Dogg’s discography.
The film is set to begin production this fall, shooting on-location primarily throughout Los Angeles. Universal Pictures is set to release it, with a current release date of August 6, 2027.
