Screen Actors Guild Awards Announces 26th Annual Nominees

Move over, Golden Globes! The Screen Actors Guild just announced its nominees for its 26th annual awards, celebrating stellar acting on both film and television fronts. Noted for its indication of who will score at The Academy Awards come February, the SAG awards serve as an important precursor to the Oscars due to the overlap between voting bodies.

Unique for awarding ensemble casts, the yet-to-be released Bombshell surprised everyone by being nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, alongside The Irishman, Jojo RabbitOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Parasite. Other notable nominees included Jennifer Lopez for Hustlers, Renée Zellweger for Judy, and Brad Pitt for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. 

Also honoring the best in television acting, comedies Fleabag, Schitt’s Creek, and Dead To Me earned noms alongside a trio of nominations for Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, including Best Actress for Jennifer Aniston and Best Actor for Steve Carrell.

Robert De Niro will receive this year’s Life Achievement Award, celebrating his 54-year career in the industry. Leonardo DiCaprio, who first appeared onscreen with De Niro nearly 27 years ago in 1993’s This Boy’s Life, will present him with the award. Both actors are have been frequent collaborators with The Irishman director Martin Scorsese since 1973’s Mean Streets and 2002’s Gangs of New York.

The 26th annual SAG Awards will be broadcast on TNT and TBS Sunday, Jan. 19. A full list of nominees can be found below:
