Sadness Sisters Unite in First Trailer to ‘I Want You Back’ Starring Jenny Slate and Charlie Day

Break-ups are complicated, but when that ex finds someone else, what better way to share that misery than with another broken-hearted person? Amazon dropped the first trailer to the romantic comedy I Want You Back, set to come out on Prime Video on Feb. 11.

From director Jason Orley (Big Time Adolescence) comes a hilarious yet relatable romantic comedy starring Jenny Slate (Zootopia, The Secret Life of Pets) and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) aka “The Sadness Sisters.”

The script was written by This Is Us co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

I Want You Back follows Peter (Day) and Emma (Slate), two strangers who become friends after being rejected by their respective spouses, Anne (Gina Rodriguez) and Noah (Scott Eastwood), on the same weekend. “Misery loves company,” as the phrase goes. Still, their commiseration becomes a mission when they notice on social media that their exes have joyfully moved on to new romances—Anne with Logan (Manny Jacinto) and Noah with Ginny (Clark Backo). Terrified that they have lost their chance at happily ever after in their 30s and mortified at the possibility of having to start over, Peter and Emma devise a desperate plan to reclaim the loves of their life. Each will go to any length to stop their ex’s new relationships and entice them back into their arms.

I Want You Back also stars Mason Gooding (Love, Victor), Dylan Gelula (First Girl I Loved), Jami Gertz (Crossroads), Jordan Carlos (The First Wives Club), Isabel May (Alexa & Katie), and Luke David Blumm (The King of Staten Island).
