New Trailer Released For Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’

A new trailer has been released for Resident Evil, a new film based on Capcom’s popular video game series of the same name by Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger. The new trailer reveals more of the film’s plot, which follows Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier who must survive a night filled with a variety of unknown creatures. In an ending stinger, the location Bryan is traveling to is revealed to be Raccoon City, a fictional location central to the video game series. A full plot description, taken from the description of this new trailer, is as follows:

“From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.”

Zach Cregger directs the film, with the script being written by him and Shay Hatten. Producers on the film include Cregger, Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Carter Swan, Miri Yoon, and Asad Qizilbash. Executive producers include Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci. In addition to Abrams, the film’s cast includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Resident Evil will be released by Columbia Pictures, in association with Tristar Pictures, on September 18th. The new trailer can be viewed below:
