A new cast member has just been announced for Marvel’s upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder. According to the Independent actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy will be joining the cast of the forth Thor movie. McCarthy is of course well known for her comedic performances in movies like Bridesmaids, Spy, and Ghostbusters. She also earned several awards and nominations for her performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me? McCarthy has also been cast as Ursula the sea witch in the upcoming live action remake of The Little Mermaid.
In Thor: Love and Thunder McCarthy will be playing the character is an actress in a comedy troupe who plays a fictional version of Hela, Thor’s sister the goddess of death. Images of McCarthy on set have been revealed. Other members of the comedy troupe will include Luke Hemsworth who plays the actor play Thor and Same Neill who plays the actor playing Odin. Unfortunately it sounds like McCarthy’s role will be a rather small one.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release on May 6, 2022. The movie is being directed by Taika Waititi, and will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as the Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.
