More controversy has fallen into the lap of Warner Bros. Studios as Aquaman actor Jason Momoa spoke out in support of his Justice League co-Star Ray Fisher regarding the manner in which cast and crew “were treated on Justice League reshoots.” Momoa’s Instagram post on Monday afternoon elaborates upon his previous “#IStandWithRayFisher” Instagram post from September 8th.
Monday’s post features photo from a 2017 ComicCon panel that featured both Momoa and Fisher, among other Justice League star. The post states that “serious stuff went down,” and that the treatment of the actors during Justice League reshoots “needs to be investigated and people need to be held accountable.” Momoa ended his post with a refrain of the hashtag “#IStandWithRayFisher” and a signature “aloha.”
This is the latest development in a saga dating back to late June, when Fisher stated on Twitter that he would “like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of” a statement he made during the aforementioned ComicCon panel in 2017. Fisher’s original statement said, “Joss is a great guy,” and, “a good person to come in” to the Justice League project.
Fisher followed this statement up two days later, on July 1st, tweeting, “Joss Whedon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” Fisher ended the tweet by stating, “Accountability>Entertainment.”
At a time when the industry at large is making movements toward greater inclusivity and awareness, it is important they also remain accountable for the way all cast and crew are treated. At the time of writing, Justice League has grossed $657.9 million worldwide.
