‘Halloween Kills’ Earns a R Rating

The Motion Picture Association has awarded a R rating to the upcoming horror movie Halloween Kills. As many people already know in the United States people under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult to see R rated movies in theaters. This video can provide rather funny and accurate explanation of the movie rating system in America, different countries have their own movie rating systems of course. Movies are often issued R ratings for containing swearing, violence, sex, and drug use. There have also been accusations of movies featuring queer relationships being given higher ratings.

According to Screen Rant Halloween Kills earned its R rating for violence, grisly imagery, mature language, and drug use. It sounds like Micheal Meyers will be making some major kills in this movie. This rating is not that shocking since many of the previous movies in the Halloween franchise boast R ratings as well, including the 2018 Halloween movie. Halloween Kills is the 12th movie in the franchise. Like many other movies the release date of Halloween Kills was affected by the pandemic. It was supposed to be released in October 2020 but Cinemablend reports that it will be coming out in theaters on October 15th 2021.
