Film Adaptation of ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Releases First Trailer

Battle Angel Alita was an extremely popular manga series back in the 1990’s that spawned two sequels, an anime adaptation, and a video game. The series will finally be receiving a live-action film adaptation, and the first trailer has finally been released:

Alita: Battle Angel (strangely a tiny bit different from its established name, considering the original title of the work) follows the story of Alita, a young cyborg who finds herself in a family’s home with no recollection of her past. As she begins to learn and explore her new environment, she is hunted down by other cyborgs and people who know of her past. The film focuses on her journey to discover her origins and to protect the family and friends that she has met.

The film boasts a star studded cast including Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind), and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight). The film is being directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) with screenplay by Rodriguez, James Cameron (Avatar), and Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island). The film looks to be released through Fox on July 20th, 2018. We hope that it will live up to the greatness of the manga series.
