Due to the ongoing pandemic, most of 2020’s big films were either moved to the following year or released straight to streaming platforms. Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet was actually released in theaters worldwide in September 2020, yet its release was limited in the US, due to many theaters being shut down. According to Variety, Tenet is finally going to have a Los Angeles theatrical release. It will screen at the Hollywood Legion Theater drive-in from December 5th-16th. Hollywood Legion’s indoor theater is also a club for local veterans, but due to the pandemic, the drive-in was set up as an alternative this summer.
The sci-fi spy thriller is about a secret agent who goes on a dangerous mission to prevent the start of World War III. Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debick and made $350 million at the worldwide box office. This is rather impressive, and Nolan stated that he was thrilled with its commercial results and criticised other studios for “drawing the wrong conclusions from our release”. After the film is screened at the Legion theater, Tenet will then have its digital, DVD, and Blu-ray release on December 16th. The film will reportedly cost $45 on 4K UHD, $36 on Blu-ray, and $29 on DVD.
