Cannes Film Festival Winners Announced

After 12 days of screenings, the winners of the 75th Cannes Film Festival have finally been announced.

Park Chan-wook took home Best Director with his movie Decision to Leave, while Boy From Heaven nabbed best screenplay. The Best Actor and Actress Awards went to Song Kang-ho for Broker and Zar Amir Ebrahimi for Holy Spider, respectively.

Meanwhile Claire Denis’ Stars at Noon and Lukas Dhont’s Close both received the Grand Prix Award. The Jury Prize went to Eo by Jerzy Skolimowski, and Le Otto Montagne by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen

The most prestigious award that can be won at Cannes is the Palme d’Or. This year the recipient of the Palme d’Or was Ruben Östlund’s film Triangle of Sadness. Additionally, the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film was awarded to The Water Murmurs, and the Camera d’Or went to Riley Keough and Gina Gammell for their work on War Pony.

Though this year two other Palme d’Ors were also handed out. American actor and Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker was given a Palme d’Or for his amazing career, and closer to the beginning of the festival Tom Cruise was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or while he was in Cannes promoting Top Gun: Maverick.
