Angelina Jolie to Direct War Photographer Don McCullin Biopic ‘Unreasonable Behaviour’

Angelina Jolie is working on her next big project, Unreasonable Behaviour, a biography of British war photographer Don McCullin. Based on his praised memoir of the same title will direct.

Through their Hardy Son & Baker banner, Tom Hardy and Dean Baker (Taboo) will produce the film alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Darkest Hour) from Working Title Films. McCullin and Mark George (Thirst) are executive producers.

The screenplay was written by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Gregory Burke (71). The film will follow the account of the life of a celebrated British war photographer that took him from poverty-stricken, wartime London to some of the most dangerous war zones in the world.

“I am humbled to have a chance to bring Don McCullin’s life to film,” said Jolie. “I was drawn to his unique combination of fearlessness and humanity – his absolute commitment to witnessing the truth of war, and his empathy and respect for those who suffer its consequences. We hope to make a film that is as uncompromising as Don’s photography, about the extraordinary people and events he witnessed, and the rise and fall of a unique era in journalism.”

McCullin said: “Having viewed Angelina’s last film on Cambodia (and having spent so much time during the war there), I was very impressed at how she made such a powerful and accurate representation of the place at that time. I feel as if I am in safe, capable, and professional hands with her.”

Cassandra Reichelt: I graduated from California State University of Long Beach in Spring 2021 with a degree in Journalism major. I did attend Long Beach City College for a couple of years, I then transferred to CSULB in 2019. I want to write something outside the normal, something no one would think to write about in a unique way. It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
