A Post-WWII Jared Leto Joins The Yakuza In New Trailer For ‘The Outsider’

Jared Leto is what some people call a Renaissance man: a person who has had success in various areas of art. He is the lead singer and one of the founders of 30 Seconds to Mars, a distinguished music video director, and definitely an influential and polarizing actor. His new film, The Outsider, had gone through development troubles from the beginning. Leto was not even the original starring actor with Tom Hardy first being attached. The director also changed from Takeshi Miike to Martin Zandvliet. The film now has steadied and has released its new trailer.

In Post-WWII Japan, an American soldier remains trapped in a Japanese prison. He is eventually freed with the help of his cellmate, who is a member of the Yakuza. This leads the soldier to join the notorious Japanese mafia as a way of repaying the gang for his freedom.

Leto is joined by a strong cast that includes Tadanobu Asano, Emile Hirsch, Kippei Shina, Rory Cochrane, Shioli Kutsuna, and Yurino. The film appears to have a strong script by John Linson and Andrew Baldwin. Netflix picked up the distribution rights and looks to release the film on March 9, and it is one of seventy films set to release this year by Netflix.
