William Hurt, Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller to Star in ‘The Fence’ A Political Satire Film

Miles Teller (Whiplash), Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies, The Descendants), and Oscar winner William Hurt (Kiss of the Spider Woman) will star in political satire The Fence from Icelandic director Grímur Hákonarson.

This amusing fun idea behind the film follows two liberal newlyweds gradually coming at odds with their ultra-conservative ex-marine neighbor over a nine-foot fence that he insists on constructing to keep his home safe from possible terrorists.

The film is slated to start production in March 2021.

The film is on excellent ground right now considering how divided the political climate is, and the casting choice should make it an enticing proposition for buyers or financiers.

The script was written by Shane Danielsen (The Guests) from the story by Hákonarson. Treehouse Pictures’ Justin Nappi (All Is Lost) and Juliet Berman (Set It Up) are producing.

Hákonarson is best known for his award-winning Cannes film Rams, and recently, Toronto’s The County is making his English debut with The Fence. The Fence was previously in production with Film4 and Element. Rams was recently got a remake in the English language with Sam Neil (Jurassic Park) and Miranda Richardson (Sleepy Hollow, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).

The film will also bring back Teller and Woodley in their fifth film together. They previously starred together in Adrift, The Spectacular Now, and the Divergent series.

Cassandra Reichelt: I graduated from California State University of Long Beach in Spring 2021 with a degree in Journalism major. I did attend Long Beach City College for a couple of years, I then transferred to CSULB in 2019. I want to write something outside the normal, something no one would think to write about in a unique way. It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
