Vin Diesel’s ‘Bloodshot’ Has Found Its Villain

Actor Toby Kebbell has been cast as the villain in Sony’s upcoming comic book adaptation of Valiant Comics’ Bloodshot. Kebbell is no stranger to comic book movies, or to playing villains, as he played Dr. Doom in the latest take on Fantastic Four. He also played a convincing baddie in Ben Hur, and you may recognize him from Kong: Skull Island and A Monster Calls. He’s also had several high profile voice roles, portraying Koba in the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, and Durotan in Warcraft.

In Bloodshot, Kebbell will play Ax, a fiend for technology who has a knack for hacking into the computer systems of important financial institutions. He somehow obtains the ability to communicate directly with computers, increasing his lust for technology and pitting him against Angelo Mortalli (aka Bloodshot, played by Vin Diesel). Mortalli is a reanimated soldier, brought back to life with the aide of billions of nanobots, a technology that Ax craves.

The Valiant Comic was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton. As noted by Screenrant, Dave Wilson, Deadpool director Tim Miller’s partner at Blur Studios, will serve as director. Aside from Kebbell and Diesel, the cast includes Outlander‘s Sam Heughan, and Baby Driver‘s Eiza Gonzalez.

Bloodshot is scheduled to begin production in July from a script written by Academy Award nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer (Arrival).

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, singing badly to pop songs in the car, eating delicious food, and drinking fine alcoholic beverages. I play basketball when my crippling knee and back pain allows, and I try to hit the gym on a regular basis. I have a son and a sugar glider, and when I'm not combing the internet for breaking news I am likely traveling or riding my Razor scooter.
