The competition was tough, but TriStar won the distribution rights for A White Lie, a comedy starring Zendaya and Reese Witherspoon.
The film will be produced by Zendaya, Lauren Neustadter and Reese Witherspoon through the production company Hello Sunshine.
Based on a true story and based on the novel, The Gilded Years, by Karin Tanabe, A White Lie follows a young African American woman who passes as white and becomes the first person of color to attend Vassar College.
Zendaya was most recently seen in The Greatest Showman and is gearing up for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. She will next be heard as a voice in Smallfoot. Witherspoon will be returning to her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series Big Little Lies and will next be seen in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time.
