Toronto International Film Festival Set To Hold Christopher Nolan Retrospective Screenings.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is set to host a career retrospective of director Christopher Nolan. TIFF will screen 12 films directed by Christopher Nolan throughout July and August at the Lightbox Theater in Toronto, beginning with his debut, Following, and continuing with films like Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer. Four of these films: Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer, will be screened in 70mm, as part of this program, which is titled Christopher Nolan: Grand Designs.

Other Nolan films screening include The Prestige, Memento, and Insomnia. Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, made up of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, will also be screened. In addition, other non-Nolan films will also be screened as part of the program, including The Right Stuff, one of Christopher Nolan’s personal favorite films, and 2023’s Barbie, held directly after a screening of Nolan’s Oppenheimer, in a nod to the Barbenheimer movement of summer 2023 that led to both films becoming significant box office smash hits. Information about this program can be found here.

These screenings are meant to coincide with the release of Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated adaptation of The Odyssey. Nolan’s adaptation stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside a star-studded supporting cast including Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Ryan Hurst, and Travis Scott. The Odyssey will be released in IMAX, IMAX 70mm, and other large- and standard-format theaters on July 17th.
