Thomasin Mckenzie To Play Kerri Strug In Olivia Wilde and Searchlight’s Upcoming Film ‘Perfect’

Olivia Wilde has finally found her Kerri Strug after an extensive search for her upcoming film Perfect. Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace) will portray the olympian gymnast. Perfect will delve into an intimate look into Kerri Strug’s determination and drive in becoming a historic Olympian who secured America’s first ever gymnastics team gold.

According to Deadline, Wilde will direct from a script by Ronnie Sandahl, while Nik Bower & Jeremy Baxter will produce through Riverstone Pictures along with Thomas Benski & Moss Barclay. Deepak Nayar of Riverstone and Marisa Clifford of Pulse will executive produce along with Wilde and Sandahl.

Wilde has been a hot commodity since her directorial debut on her coming-of-age-comedy Booksmart. When she attached herself to direct Perfect last year, Searchlight landed the rights to the script paying $15 million for global rights.

McKenzie was first introduced in her breakout role in Debra Granik’s Leave No Trace, in which she starred along Ben Foster. She was nominated for multiple awards and was recognized by the National Board of Review for Breakthrough Actor of 2018. She also starred in Taika Waititi’s film Jojo Rabbit, as well as True History Of The Kelly Gang in the same year. She is set to star in Old for director M. Night Shyamalan and Last Night In Soho for director Edgar Wright.
