‘The Society’ Star Alex Fitzalan Joins Searchlight’s ‘Chevalier de Saint-Georges’

Searchlight Pictures’ upcoming historical drama Chevalier de Saint-Georges has added a new cast member, Australian actor Alex Fitzalan (Netflix series The Society), as Philippe in a supporting role.

The biopic also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr (The Trial of the Chicago 7), who will play the lead role, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), and most recently Minnie Driver (Speechless) joining the cast.

Stephen Williams is set to direct the biopic. Williams has directed plenty of episodes of hit series, including Watchmen, Westworld, How to Get Away with Murder, Lost, and The Walking Dead.

Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was born in 1745 in the French Caribbean. He was the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner. He ascended to incredible heights in French society, shined as a violinist and composer. He was even dubbed ‘the Black Mozart’; he was that talented. His premature demise was precipitated by an ill-fated love affair with a French noblewoman and a falling out with Marie Antoinette and her court.

Fitzalan made his American film debut in the Sony film Slender Man about the faceless, digital-age boogeyman. He will be seen next in the upcoming season of the Amazon series The Wilds.
