The Directors Guild Announces Their List of Nominations

The 2019 award season is well under way. The Hollywood Foreign Press has just finished handing out the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, but now it is time for Directors Guild to do the same. The Directors Guild has just released their list of nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film and for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Feature Film. The full lists can be seen here and below.

The nominees list for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film include, Alfonso Cuarón, Peter Farrelly, Spike Lee, and Adam McKay. Thhe Nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Feature Film are Bo Burnham, Carlos Lopez Estrada, Matthew Heineman, and Boots Riley. Bradley Cooper, director of A Star is Born, is nominated in both categories.

While all of the nominees this year are all male it is is wonderful to have a racial diversity amongst the nominees, as well as diversity in genres of the nominated films. All of these men are strong contenders for the award based on their abilities as directors, and all of their movies deserve to be on this list.
