British Academy Film Awards Announces Nominations with ‘The Favourite’ Leading

With award season just getting starting, the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) is another major one that seems to go unnoticed. This award ceremony is dedicated to awarding films created by British talent, but also contains many awards for films outside of the United Kingdom.

The nominations have recently been announced with The Favourite leading the pack with 12 nominations. Not only that, but Roma, A Star is Born, First Man and Bohemian Rhapsody also lead the BAFTA nominations with 7 for each film. Depending on what wins for this year’s BAFTA could determine the faith of the 2018 Oscar wins. Many are stating that Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma could easily win some of the major categories it is nominated for since all of its nominations at BAFTA are for big awards including Best Film not in an English Language and Best Director.

The ceremony will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on February 10.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
