Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ Has a Release Date

Terrence Malick‘s (The Tree of Life) latest film, Knight of Cups, finally has release date. Broad Green Pictures, which recently entered into partnership with Malick, has set a release date of March 4, 2016 for the movie.

Interestingly enough, Broad Green Pictures chose to bow out of awards season for Malick’s film, which stars Christian Bale (American Hustle), Natalie Portman (Jane Got Gun), Cate Blanchett (Cinderella), Antonio Banderas (The 33), Jason Clarke (Terminator Genisys), and Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike XXL). The movie follows a screenwriter (Bale) in L.A. who tries to make sense of some strange occurrences around him.

Given the cast, the film should fare better in terms of audience reception than Malick’s previous film, To the Wonder, which only grossed $3 million worldwide after 2011’s The Tree of Life banked more than $50 million along with a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

Knight of Cups recently showed at the Berlin International Film Festival, where Malick was nominated for the festival’s Golden Bear Award. Imogen Poots (She’s Funny That Way) won the Breakthrough Performer Award at the 2012 Hampton’s Film Festival for her performance.

The trailer for Knight of Cups premiered last December. If you missed it, you can check it out below.
