Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Logan Lucky’ All-Star Cast Gets Even Bigger

Looks like Steven Soderbergh won’t be retiring from directing in Hollywood just yet. Known for films like Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven and Magic Mike, Soderbergh has now begun shooting for his most recent film Logan Lucky, story about two brothers who plan to commit a major heist during a big NASCAR race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Any other details regarding the plot remain under wraps, but what’s not such a secret is the cast he’s acquiring for the movie. If there’s one noticeable quality about Soderbergh’s films, it’s his knack for picking extremely talented actors and gathering them together for mega all-star casts (case in point: Ocean’s Eleven again). Already the lineup list looks impressive from a casting standpoint, with big names like Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Katherine Heigl, Adam Driver and Seth McFarlane set to star in this movie. And now two more stars have been acquired to make the roster even longer: Hillary Swank and Katherine Waterson.

While Waterston’s role in the movie has not yet been announced, Swank will be playing the part of an FBI agent tasked with hunting down the brothers pulling off the heist. Hopefully the part will be worthy of the two-time Academy Award winner (Million Dollar Baby and Boys Don’t Cry) and you can bet she will bring her A-game intensity to this movie. As for future productions, Swank is currently scheduled to star in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s series The One Percent on the Starz channel, as well as star alongside Helena Bonhama Carter in Billie August’s 55 Steps. As for Waterston, she has quite the busy schedule ahead of her, having major role this year in one of the year’s most anticipated movies: the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Waterston will also be starring alongside actor Michael Fassbender in Alien: Covenant, the sequel to the 2012 movie Prometheus.

As for Logan Lucky itself, Soderbergh is hoping to have the movie released sometime in 2017, so here’s hoping it turns out to be a hit.
