Back in 2019, fans of MCU may recall that the release of tickets for Avengers: Endgame broke numerous box-office records in various markets. It looks like Spider-Man: No Way Home could follow the same route.
Tickets went up for sale as early as 12:01 AM on Monday Nov. 29. Within minutes, domestic movie ticket sites such as Fandango and AMC crashed as fans rushed to get ahold of tickets for the most anticipated film of this year.
According to CNBC, box-office analysts are already optimistic that the latest Spider-Man installment could top $100 million during its December debut. The early high demand for tickets favors the film’s opening.
The previous films for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man debuted at $117 million in 2017 and $92 million in 2019, according to data from Comscore.
“It would be entirely fitting that a Spider-Man movie could potentially be the first pandemic-era release to break the $100 million opening weekend mark,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, noting that Sam Raimi’s 2002 “Spider-Man” was the first film in the history of cinema to open to more than $100 million at the box office.
