At 80 years old, Eleanor Coppola has finally made her narrative directorial debut with the film Paris Can Wait. Sony Pictures Classics has picked up the film for distribution after its Toronto debut, according to Deadline. The wife of Francis Ford Coppola, Eleanor Coppola is the director of the famous documentary Heart to Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse.
Coppola wrote, directed, and produced Paris Can Wait. The film stars Diane Lane (Unfaithful) as Anne, woman in a strained marriage to a successful movie producer, played by Alec Baldwin (Blue Jasmine). Anne finds herself taking a road trip from Cannes to Paris with a charming French stranger (Arnaud Viard), one that takes the pair on many twists and turns along the way.
In a statement, Sony Pictures Classics commented,

Sony Pictures Classics has been known to be in the business of refined indie dramas. The distributor has not yet revealed a release plan for the film.
