Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Watergate Whistleblower Drama ‘The Silent Man’ Starring Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson is making an exciting return to drama with his latest turn as Watergate Whistleblower Mark Felt in The Silent Man. Sony Pictures Classics has just announced that they have picked up the film for distribution. The company sees immense viewership interest for the film based on the recent investigations of Trump’s White House, and plan on a September rollout — possibly as an early awards season contender.

FBI informant Mark Felt was not a name people knew until 2005 when he revealed himself to be the whistleblower who uncovered the Watergate scandal during President Richard Nixon’s tenure in office. For 30 years, the public referred to the unknown source as “Deep Throat”. The riveting true story will reveal the quiet and little known life of Felt, a man who risked his personal and professional life in pursuit of truth and justice.

Joining Neeson is a large all-star cast including Diane Lane, Michael C. Hall, Tony Goldwyn (TV’s Scandal), Maika Monroe (It Follows), Brian D’Arcy James (Spotlight), Noah Wyle (W.), Kate Walsh (TV’s Private Practice), Marton Csokas (The Equalizer), Josh Lucas (The Lincoln Lawyer), Tom Sizemore (Black Hawk Down), Ike Barinholtz (Snatched), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids), and Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek). Peter Landesman (Concussion) wrote and directed the film.

Check out the first clip from The Silent Man below, featuring Neeson as Felt as he details the deep lengths to which he and the FBI protect the secrets of the White House.
