SNL’s Chloe Fineman Joins Cast of ‘Father of the Bride’ Remake

Chloe Fineman, breakout star on Saturday Night Live, has been cast in a key role in Warner Bros.’ Father of the Bride remake. She’ll join Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, Diego Boneta, Isabela Merced, Enrique Murciano and Macarena Achaga, who are already attached to the upcoming project.

The romantic-comedy franchise began in 1950 with the Spencer Tracy-led Father of the Bride and then was followed up by Father’s Little Dividend in 1951. Then, in 1991, the franchise was rebooted with Steve Martin at the center, and 3 more films were made. Unlike the older films, the next reboot of the franchise will be focusing on a large Cuban American family.

Gaz Alazraki is set to direct the film with script from Matt Lopez. Alazraki is known best for Club de Cuervos, a soccer-centric Netflix comedy series they helped to adapt.

Fineman is one of the newer cast members on SNL. She joined in 2019 and quickly became a favorite for viewers because of her spot-on celebrity impressions. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Fineman will be playing the film’s resident wedding planner. The film will mark Fineman’s first feature-length acting role.

Father of the Bride is being produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of the production banner Plan B. Garcia, Paul Perez and Ted Gidlow will executive produce.
