Bright was a fairly anticipated film from the director of Suicide Squad that released very late into 2017. It is now being considered one of the worst films of 2017 by many critics, currently sitting at a paltry 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. Regardless of the critical reviews, the film is being enjoyed by audiences, and Netflix has been watching, as they have announced a sequel to the film through Twitter:
Bright focuses on two policemen that lived in an alternate world where humans orcs, fairies, and various other mystical creatures live together in harmony. On their routine patrol, the policemen stumble upon a magical item that has the power to destroy their whole world. They must work together in order to prevent the weapon from falling into the wrong hands.
The film featured a noteworthy cast with Will Smith (Suicide Squad) and Joel Edgerton (Black Mass) as the human and orc policemen, and also featuring Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Edgar Ramirez (Gold), and Margaret Cho. We wonder what the subject matter will be in the second film, and we also wonder if the film will have better outcome in terms of critic scores. This may depend on if writer Max Landis and director David Ayer both return. We hope for the best in the sequel that does not have a release date as of yet.
