Selena Gomez Joins Cast of Universal’s ‘Doctor Dolittle’ Remake

Singer/ Actress Selena Gomez has officially signed on to do a voice in the Upcoming Doctor Dolittle reboot. Gomez is most known for her voice work in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Spring Breakers, and Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, which originally shot her to fame.

She will be joining Robert Downey Jr, who will be playing Dr. John Dolittle as well as Antonio Banderas, who will play Rassouli, and Michael Sheen as Mudfly. Other voice actors include Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, and Tom Holland.

This makes the third incarnation of the film after the original Dr. Dolittle in 1967, starring Rex Harrison, and Eddie Murphy’s remake in 1998.

The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle is set to begin production later this month with a April 12, 2019 release date in mind.  The new film will be based on the 1920’s children’s book by Hugh Lofting.

Gomez most recently acted as executive producer on the Golden-Globe nominated Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why and will soon appear in Woody Allen’s 2018 film alongside Oscar-nominee Timothée Chalamet.
