In a recent interview with Variety, Sebastian Stan, who is currently filming The Batman Part II in an undisclosed role, compared the upcoming sequel to one of the most iconic and critically acclaimed sequels of all time: The Godfather Part II. “What I’ll say is this: there’s no way people will fully grasp how this movie is until they see it,” Stan says in the interview, I go to set sometimes, and I look around, and I’m like, I think we’re making f**king The Godfather Part II.”
Such comparisons to a notable, acclaimed sequel that earned multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture, should raise fans’ expectations. While Sebastian Stan stays pretty tight-lipped about the upcoming sequel and his role, his comments also make it clear the film will expand on the first movie in some way, shape, or form. Stan’s actual role in the film has sparked much speculation, with rumors suggesting the actor may be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face. However, Stan and no one else involved in the film have officially confirmed any of these rumors.
Stan can next be seen in the Palme d’Or-winning Fjord, releasing in theaters in October, and reprising his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Avengers: Doomsday, releasing in theaters on December 18th. The Batman: Part II will be released in theaters on February 16, 2028, after several delays, including from October 2026 and October 2027.
