Ryan Gosling’s (Drive) and producer Jessie Henderson’s (Spy) production company Open Invite, is in the works of a new Flintstones project according to Deadline. The project is allegedly centered around a grown up Bam Bam, the adopted son of Barney Rubble. Deadline report that the company is looking for a writer for the film. No other information about the film has been reported. The last Flintstones project was a spin-off cartoon that ran on HBO Max called Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs. The show ran for 2 seasons and followed Pebbles Flintstone and Bam-Bam going on adventures with Dino, Pebbles’ family pet purple dinosaur.
The last live action adaptation of this Hanna-Barbera cartoon was in the year 2000 with the film The Flintstones in Viva Las Vegas. The film starred Mark Addy (The Full Monty) and Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects) as Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble which served as a prequel to Flintstones (1994). The 1994 adaptation starred John Goodman (The Big Lebowski) and Rick Moranis (Spaceballs) as Fred and Barney.
In 2014, Variety reported that Will Ferrell (Anchorman) and writer Adam Mckay (The Big Short) were in the talks of writing a script for a new Flintstones animated film but the project never came to be.
