A teaser trailer for Ron Howard’s new survival thriller, Eden, has been released via Vertical Entertainment on YouTubeStarring Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, Sydney Sweeney, Daniel Brühl, Felix Kammerer, Toby Wallace, and Richard Roxburgh, the film follows the true story of Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his wife Dora Strauch, who leave civilization in the early 1930s to settle on the uninhabited island of Floreana in the Galapagos, only for their actions to inspire more people to follow, leading to raised tensions and eventually mysterious deaths and disappearances.

Eden has been 15 years in the making for Howard, who first heard about the real-life history while on a family trip to the Galapagos, and mentioned in an interview,

“…You go back into the research, and people will be blown away by how accurate our framing of these people actually is and the events that unfold…”

Originally titled Origin of Species, the project premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2024, followed by a theatrical run in Germany this past April.

Produced by Howard, Brian Grazer, and Karen Lunder through Imagine Entertainment, Stuart Ford through his AGC Studios, Bill Connor, Patrick Newall, and Library Pictures International, and distributed by Vertical Entertainment, Eden will be released in the United States on August 22nd, 2025.
