Oscar nominated actor Demian Bichir has been added to the cast of Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant. A sequel to 2012’s Prometheus, Scott will continue to direct the prequel series before the events of the original Alien. It is said to follow the crew members of the colony ship Covenant who happen upon a Paradise-like world that is actually darkly inhabited by David, the survivor of the Prometheus expedition.
Fox will likely continue to recruit more actors to round out the ensemble. Michael Fassbender, fresh off of receiving an Oscar nomination for his work in Steve Jobs, will reprise his role as the android David. Noomi Rapace, however, will not be returning as Elizabeth Shaw. Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) and Danny McBride (This is the End) are the only other confirmed cast members.
Bichir’s latest credit was in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight as Bob.
Alien: Covenant begins production this year. We will have more on the much anticipated prequel as it becomes available.
