‘Red Notice’ Director Rawson Marshall Thurber to Direct Netflix Adaptation of Video Game ‘The Division’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain

The director behind Red Notice, Rawson Marshall Thurber, will take David Leitch’s spot as director for the Netflix adaptation of the popular video game, The Division that will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. Leitch had to step back due to scheduling conflicts, and one of those conflicts was because of his action film Bullet Train starring Brad Pitt that he is currently film, but the good news is that he will still be on as a producer.

The plot of the story is that it is set near the future with a virus spread by paper money on Black Friday, wrecking New York City and killing millions of people. By the time Christmas comes around, what remained of civilization had fallen into anarchy. A group of people equipped to work in catastrophic times are being activated in an effort to save who and what remains.

In the summer of 2019, there was a heated bidding war for the rights to the game, but Netflix was able to win over all the other bidders.

Tom Clancy’s The Division currently has more than 20 million players. The Division 2 was released in March 2019, and it provides players with new content regularly for fans of the online action role-playing video game.
