Pete Buttigieg Documentary ‘Mayor Pete’ Goes to Amazon Studios

Pete Buttigieg is the first openly LGBTQ Cabinet member in U.S. history to become the U.S. Transportation Secretary and former South Bend, Indiana mayor, is getting a documentary about the former U.S. Democratic presidential candidate, who has made history the first openly gay candidate to be seriously considered for the presidency.

Director Jesse Moss’ Mayor Pete is going to Amazon Studios and will be released later this year.

Mayor Pete gives audiences a closer look inside Buttigieg’s quest to become America’s first openly gay president in history. The documentary will also show Buttigieg at home in Indiana with his husband, Chasten, and take a look inside the early days of the campaign and Buttigieg’s historic, disputed win in the Iowa Caucuses.

All the way back in 2019, Axios reported that film cameras followed Buttigieg for Story Syndicate, a nonfiction production company founded by a married couple and veteran filmmakers Dan Cogan and Liz Garbus.

March 1, 2020, is when Buttigieg dropped out of the presidential race but not before the Super Tuesday vote and after Joe Biden won in South Carolina.

Buttigieg is very vocal about his support for Biden winning the presidency and frequently went on Fox News to push the election as one of the campaign’s most influential and viral defenders of the Democratic party.
