‘Oppenheimer’ Reveals First Look Amidst New Castings

The first look of Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Oppenheimer has been released today. The image comes with an announcement that principal photography has officially begun on the film, which will be released next year. Murphy will star in the film as the titular J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist behind the Manhattan Project and atomic bomb.

This also comes with the news of Kenneth Branagh, Alden Ehrenreich, and David Krumholtz joining the already stacked A-list cast. Branagh is coming off his recent success and Best Picture nomination for Belfast and has worked with Nolan in the past for Dunkirk and Tenet. Ehrenreich is most known for playing a young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018 and has starred in the TV series Brave New World since then. Krumholtz is best known for The Deuce (2017).

The rest of the star-studded cast comprises Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, and Jack Quaid, who was added last week. Other than Murphy as Oppenheimer himself, details on the rest of the cast’s roles remain unconfirmed.

Oppenheimer is filming now in New Mexico and will release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
