The latest installment of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion, will in fact continue with production after rumors that, not even week into shooting, members of the crew had tested positive for COVID-19, which would have potentially shut production down, per Deadline. Universal released a statement stating that these rumors are “completely untrue,” there have been no positive cases on-set, and that they are still in the first week of shooting.
Jurassic World: Dominion, started shooting on July 6, in Britain’s Pinewood Studios, where a number of big-budget, blockbuster movies like The Dark Knight and No Time to Die were also filmed. Universal has spent millions of dollars ensuring that the set can be as a safe as possible, and if there is a positive test that enough people can be tested themselves to see if they have the virus, as well.
The film is a sequel to 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the final part of the Jurassic World Trilogy, and potentially the Jurassic Park saga in general. It will once again star Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, and more all reprising their roles from previous Jurassic Park films. It was written by Colin Trevorrow and Emily Carmicheal, and will be directed by Trevorrow. Once again, Steven Spielberg will help as an executive producer.
Production for the film was initially supposed to begin in March, but was postponed due to the pandemic. It is slated to be released on June 11, 2021.
