Netflix has chosen to delay production on The Gray Man due to spiking COVID-19 numbers in California. Shooting was meant to begin mid-January, but the crew has been told that production will be pushed back at least two weeks out of caution. Avengers: Endgame’s Joe and Anthony Russo are set to direct The Gray Man, which stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas. It will be Netflix’s biggest-budget tentpole film the streamer has made so far, and the studio intends to create a new franchise with a James Bond-level scale and budget. The action thriller centers around a deadly duel between killers. Gosling plays Court Gentry, a former CIA operative who is hunted across the globe by former cohort, Lloyd Hansen, played by Evans.
The Russo’s AGBO is producing the film with script written by Joe Russo. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, writers of the Russo-directed MCU films and co-presidents of Story at AGBO, polished the script, which is based on the 2009 Mark Greaney novel The Gray Man.
It was recently revealed that Game of Thrones’ Jessica Henwick, Narcos star Wagner Moura, Bollywood actor Dhanush, and Once Upon Time in Hollywood’s Julia Butters will also star in the upcoming Netflix film.
