Mark Wahlberg’s ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’ Receives Release Date

The Six Billion Dollar Man reboot has received its release date, along with few other films by Warner Bros. The film has received a May 31, 2019 theatrical distribution, which will be competing against an untitled Blumhouse film, according to Variety.

The Six Billion Dollar Man is based on the TV show of a similar name (only one letter and billions of dollars off, it was called the Six Million Dollar Man) that focuses on the story of Colonel Steve Austin, who was an extremely powerful person because of his bionic implants (hence the name). Because of his superhuman strength, he is employed as a secret agent to conduct various missions. Considering his first career was that of an astronaut, the character has definitely led an exciting life, which will translate well to film. The original series lasted a total of five seasons, beginning in 1973 on ABC, and is considered a fun, entertaining TV classic.

The new film features Mark Wahlberg as Colonel Steve Austin and will be directed by Damian Szifron. The film was put in danger because it was previously owned by the Weinstein Company, but Warner Bros picked up the rights last year.We are very interested to see how The Six Billion Dollar Man plays out, considering there is quite a bit of source material to pull from. We hope it will have just as much success as previous TV-to-film projects like 21 Jump Street.
