M. Night Shyamalan Reveals Title and Artwork for Next Film ‘Old’

M. Night Shyamalan’s next feature with Universal, Old, is already in the works. The writer-director recently revealed the artwork and an image of himself shooting the first shot of the new film on Twitter.

“Feels like a miracle that I am standing here shooting the first shot of my new film,” Shyamalan tweeted. “It’s called Old.”

The black & white artwork shows an hourglass, only with people falling down instead of sand. The text on the poster reads, “A New Trip from Writer/Director M. Night Shyamalan. It’s only a matter of time.”

The other picture shared by Shyamalan shows himself wearing a mask and holding up a clapperboard.

Gael Garcia Bernal, Alex Wolff and Eliza Scanlen are among some of the names already attached to the project. Deadline reported recently that Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz and Emun Elliott had joined the ensemble cast for the new film.

While plot details are still under wraps, the movie is supposedly inspired by the French graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and artist Frederick Peeters, where the story kicks off with a dead body being discovered on the beach.

Shyamalan’s last film, Glass, received somewhat negative reception from critics back in 2017. More recently he worked on the Apple TV+ series Servant, which he executive produced.

Old is planned for release July 23, 2021
