‘Lovecraft Country’ Star Jonathan Majors Joining Next ‘Ant-Man’ Movie as Kang the Conqueror

Star of the hit HBO series Lovecraft Country, Jonathan Majors, has recently been cast as lead in the next Ant-Man movie opposite Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily. Sources close to the project say he will likely play the character Kang the Conqueror.

In the comic books, Kang is a time-travelling super-villain who has battled against Spider-man, Thor, and other members of the Avengers. It’s unclear whether or not Majors will play a larger role in the MCU after Ant-Man 3.

Peyton Reed, director of the first two Ant-Man films, will return to direct the tiny Avenger’s next outing, which will be written by Jeff Loveness.

Majors has been praised for his work on films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Spike Lee’s 2020 Vietnam film, Da 5 Bloods.

Lovecraft Country’s first season has been well received by critics and audiences so far. Six out of ten episodes have released so far, with the final episode set to release on October 18, 2020. It’s unknown whether or not the show will have a second season due to it being a limited series.

Majors is also set to star in the 2021 Netflix Western, The Harder They Fall alongside Idris Elba, and in the upcoming Korean War movie Devotion.
