After a showing at the Sundance Film Festival, Lionsgate has purchased Eli Roth’s (Hostel) latest movie, Knock Knock, according to Deadline. The horror movie stars Keanu Reeves as a marred man who meets two beautiful young girls (Lorenza Izzo and Ana De Armas) while his family is out of town. While the evening looks like it will be his wildest fantasy, it turns out be his worst nightmare.
This is Roth’s fifth directorial effort. His last movie, The Green Inferno, was supposed to be released last September but was put on indefinite hold due to disagreements between the production company and its former head. Roth’s biggest hit is still the torture-porn staple, Hostel. While Roth’s directorial efforts are all horror movies, this sounds like it will be closer to film that made him famous. Lionsgate has distributed all of his films with exception to The Green Inferno.
Reeves is fresh off success from last year’s action movie John Wick. The actor is slowly working back from the disappointing showing of 2013’s 47 Ronin. Reeves hasn’t starred in many horror films, with his most notable ventures into the genre being The Watcher (2000) and the comic adaptation Constantine (2005).
No release date has been announced for Knock Knock as of yet.
