Adam Levine in ‘Begin Again’

Musician and Begin Again actor Adam Levine will perform the movie’s Oscar-nominated song “Lost Stars” at next month’s ceremony. Both Levine and co-star Keira Knightly (The Imitation Game) performed the song in the movie. Knightly’s version is acoustic while Levine’s has full instrumental accompaniment.

This is the second film from director John Carney (Once) to have a song nominated for an Oscar. Falling Slowly” from Once was nominated and won the 2008 award for Best Original Song. Lost Stars” is up against Common and John Legend’s Golden Globe-winning “Glory” from Selma, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me, “Grateful”  from Beyond the Lights, and “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie.

Begin Again follows Gretta (Knightly) as she tries to break into the music business with the help of washed-up record executive Dan (Mark Ruffalo). Levine plays Gretta’s musician ex-boyfriend, who is also finding success professionally.
